The symbol in the center of our logo is the Vesica Piscis, which represents all aspects of our work, including unity and the balance between opposing forces.  It helps us remember that mind, body, spirit, community and even creation – are ONE.  We belong to each other.  

 

Politics is about “othering.”  Finding the differences between us and polarizing one another, even dehumanizing one another.  Most of our therapists have been trained in the dangers of polarized thinking and the value of finding the “transcendent third” option. This option doesn’t simply compromise between the two extremes but rather integrates elements of both to create a more nuanced and holistic understanding. It allows for the coexistence of seemingly contradictory ideas and helps to find a higher-level solution that encompasses the complexity of the situation.  ZoeRVA Health exists to help people find this option. 

 

Some of our colleagues and clients will be celebrating because they believe their fears and concerns will be better addressed as a result of the election.  Others will be feeling grief, concerned that their worst fears will grow larger and become realized.  Grief contains shock, disbelief, fear, and anger.  Feelings of hopelessness and helplessness.  Acting out.  ZoeRVA Health intends to stand in the center, firmly planted in our values of unconditional positive regard for all, a place of refuge.   Robert Frost said, “Poetry is about the grief.  Politics is about the grievance.”  

 

ZoeRVA Health is here to support all who enter in growing larger than their grief, helping to ensure that all of our fears and concerns are better addressed, and celebrating when improvements are made.  We are poets.
