Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Direct Primary Care (DPC) is a healthcare model where patients pay a monthly membership fee directly to their primary care provider. This fee covers most primary care services and provides enhanced access to care, including office visits, telehealth appointments, and direct communication with your care team. DPC eliminates the administrative burden of insurance billing, allowing providers to spend more time with patients and provide more personalized care.

In traditional, insurance-based healthcare settings, providers often manage large patient panels and must navigate insurance requirements, leading to shorter visits and longer wait times. Zoe Direct maintains smaller patient panels, offers longer appointments with same/next-business day scheduling, and direct access to your care team through phone, text, portal message, and/or telehealth visits.

While both Zoe Direct and concierge medicine provide enhanced access and personalized care, concierge practices typically charge a membership fee and continue billing insurance companies for office visits. Zoe Direct does not bill insurance, resulting in lower overhead costs and more affordable membership fees.

No, Zoe Direct is not health insurance and does not replace the need for insurance coverage. We recommend maintaining health insurance, especially for catastrophic events, hospitalizations, surgeries, emergency services, etc.

Yes, patients with commercial insurance can still benefit from Zoe DirectIn addition to catastrophic events, insurance may be used for specialist visits, imaging, prescriptions, laboratory testing, and other external services. At Zoe Direct, there are no copays, variable coinsurance costs, or deductibles to meet, and memberships can be paired with high-deductible health plans and qualify to be reimbursed by tax-free Health Savings Account (HSA) funds.

No, unfortunately, we are not able to accept patients who have Medicare/Medicare Advantage at this time. Medicare requires direct primary care providers to opt out of the entire Medicare program for a minimum of two years (even if we do not submit claims to Medicare) and direct primary care practices are generally not covered by Medicare Advantage (Part C) plans.

Yes, Zoe Direct welcomes patients without insurance. The monthly membership provides access to primary care services, and we can help patients find cash-pay discounts for medications, laboratory testing, and/or imaging services.
