Deciding to seek therapy is a meaningful step. For many people, it comes after a lot of reflection, and often once you reach out, learning that there’s a wait can feel discouraging or emotionally hard.

If you’re currently on the outpatient therapy waitlist at ZoeRVA Health (or considering joining), please know that your request for care is active, and our intake team is closely engaged in connecting you with the right support. We carefully track availability and work to make matches that are clinically appropriate and sustainable. We understand how vulnerable it can feel to ask for help, and we take that trust seriously.

Outpatient therapy works best when there’s a strong match between a patient’s needs and a clinician’s expertise and availability. At times, demand exceeds immediate openings. Rather than rushing placements or overextending clinicians, we use a waitlist so that when therapy begins, it can be consistent, supportive, and meaningful.

When an opening becomes available, patients are typically contacted by text message, as it’s often the fastest way to connect. If you prefer phone or email instead, just let us know. While we’re unable to provide regular individual updates, you’re always welcome to text us to confirm that you remain active on the waitlist or to ask brief waitlist-related questions.

Waiting can be difficult, especially if you’re already feeling overwhelmed or worn down. Even though therapy hasn’t started yet, your well-being doesn’t have to be on hold. Some people find it helpful to focus on small, grounding routines, connect with trusted support, or spend time reflecting on what they hope to work on once care begins.

ZoeRVA Health is an integrated practice, meaning therapy is only one part of how we support patients. While you may be waiting for individual therapy, we may be able to offer other options such as therapy groups, psychiatric medication management, primary care, or nutrition services. Exploring these options does not remove you from the therapy waitlist; it can simply provide additional support in the meantime.

If your symptoms ever feel urgent or unmanageable, we encourage you to seek immediate support. Reaching out to a primary care provider, urgent mental health services, or a crisis line does not affect your place on our waitlist. If you are in immediate danger, call 911. You can also call or text 988, the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, which is available 24/7.

Being on a waitlist can be frustrating and emotionally taxing, especially when you’re ready to get started! Choosing to seek therapy reflects intention and care for your wellbeing, and we’re committed to supporting you through the next steps. At ZoeRVA Health, we believe care works best when there is trust, intention, and the right timing. While waiting isn’t easy, it’s part of ensuring that when therapy begins, it is truly supportive and sustainable. We appreciate your patience and look forward to working with you.
