Stephen Smith LPC
Stephen Smith is a Licensed Professional Counselor. He specializes in working with adults with issues including anxiety, trauma and/or PTSD, relationship issues, depression, and addiction. Stephen’s therapeutic style is trauma-informed, open, and thoughtful, and he welcomes working with people of all different backgrounds, gender identities, and orientations. His therapeutic work is often aimed at helping clients build awareness of themselves, process their patterns and emotions, and ultimately work towards their goals.
Stephen is trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Therapy, a therapy often used to treat trauma and PTSD, and he is also an International Certified Gambling Counselor (ICGC-I) trained to work with issues related to gambling and betting. In addition to his work with EMDR therapy, he tailors his approach to clients’ needs and goals and can also incorporate approaches from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems and inner child work, Motivational Interviewing, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Stephen has previously worked in a variety of settings within the mental health field, including crisis stabilization, community-based mental health, and residential care for addiction.
