Sharry Woods LCSW
Sharry’s work as a psychotherapist is rooted in a profound belief that by recognizing and honoring our complex, messy life stories with honesty and gentleness, we lay the foundation to heal the obstacles preventing us from building fulfilling, meaningful lives. Throughout life, we all create narratives about ourselves to help us survive. These narratives are shaped by myriad factors (individual life experiences, relationships, intergenerational legacies, and experiences of oppression/privilege, belonging/rejection, among others).
Over time, our narratives and coping mechanisms fall short.
We wonder: What went wrong? What’s wrong with me?
During your first session, you can expect Sharry to approach your interaction with passion and dedication to your growth and well-being. She is committed to getting to know you on a deeper level, creating a safe space for exploration and understanding. Together, you will work to unravel and process the internalized thoughts and emotions that may be holding you back. She aims to help you connect with your core self, encouraging authenticity and transparency in your discussions. You will explore ways to release any shame from your past, fostering a journey towards self-acceptance and embracing all aspects of who you are. Through collaboration, you will work towards unlocking your potential and receive guidance to become the best version of yourself.
Drawing from over 20 years of clinical training/experience, Sharry provides psychotherapy using Attachment-Based, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavior (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), and Trauma-Focused CBT (TF‑CBT) modalities. She provides a compassionate, empathic, culturally responsive, and social justice-informed space in which you collaboratively unpack stagnant self-narratives. In coming to Zoe, you will have taken a step toward self-care, healing, growth—toward developing self-awareness.
