Deja Howard LCSW
Deja Howard, LCSW is an outpatient therapist who enjoys supporting adults experiencing grief, caregiver stress, medical issues, as well as the geriatric population.
Deja started her social work journey by obtaining her undergraduate degree from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Social Work, then went on to complete her Master of Social Work degree from Fordham University Graduate School of Social Service. Deja has supported students, teachers, and families in achieving behavioral and academic success during her time as a school social worker in Memphis, TN. After identifying her love of supporting the family as a whole, Deja moved to working in Hospice in Richmond, VA, where she was able to identify and cultivate her passion for supporting caregivers, care recipients, assisting people in navigating the healthcare system, the geriatric population, and grief. In order to deepen clinical skills and understanding, Deja began her journey in outpatient psychotherapy with Zoe, where she supports adults experiencing a variety of presenting issues.
Deja’s approach to therapy can best be described as eclectic, pulling largely from CBT, DBT, ACT, and person-centered techniques. In a typical session with Deja, you can expect to engage in comfortable conversations, receive thoughtful questions, deepen your understanding of thoughts, behaviors, and attitudes, as well as homework assignments to be able to practice taught skills. Deja strives to create a space that is collaborative, safe, non-judgmental, and above all, genuine.
When not working with clients, Deja enjoys crocheting, reading, sitting at the dog park, and playing trivia with friends!
